Water in the desert is hard to find, but at Barker Dam, there is a permanent supply of water. Hubby and I love to stop there and hike back to the dam and view the water level. This January, after a snow storm, we hiked back to it while there was still snow on the ground. I always enjoy this stop at Joshua Tree National Park and if you travel there, make sure you stop at Barker Dam! Watery Wednesday for March 8, 2011.

Believe it or not, but in the 20+ years we've lived in the L.A. area we still yet have to visit Joshua Tree! Looks very relaxing! And I see it would be a great place to paint too!
Very beautiful photos. Well captured.
Have a nice day.
Terrific shots. A beautiful little oasis.
I always love seeing your pics from the "other" desert...LOL!
Gives me something to look forward to seeing someday.

You had beautiful blue skies, I hope we have such nice weather next time we visit.
It's beautiful and very different from our views of water in Kentucky!
It is a wonderful discovery finding water in the desert terrain! I know because I found one too here in the Sonoran desert of Arizona! Love your images!
As a hiker I'd love to explore this area!
