"D" is for desert~ABC Wednesday~020613

"D" is for desert and these are two very different views from the same place, the Santa Rosa mountains visitor center.  The center is located at the base of Highway 74, at 1,000 feet in elevation.  The top view is from their patio, looking north toward Palm Desert.  The bottom view is looking west, toward Cahuilla Hills. Two very different views indeed!  If you have a chance, and you are in Palm Desert, be sure you stop at the visitors' center.  They have hiking trails, videos, books, and shirts.  There are rangers there to help you and they also offer guided hikes through the desert.  They have many, many maps of the area, too.  It's a great place to stop and visit!   To visit ABC Wednesday, please go to:   http://abcwednesday-mrsnesbitt.blogspot.com/

Deserts - never visited one but thanks to the diversification of the ABC Wednesday fun you have given me a taster! We tour on our motorbike so would fear running out of fuel in such a vast area - and the sand in the engine?
Great informed post, thanks so much.

I'd love to visit a desert right now as it's been so dreary and damp for so long!

That's a familiar sight! Live in Southern Cal., so we're not far from the desert -why didn't I think of the D-word?
