I often pass by this tree on my way up the mountains from the desert to where I board my horses. On most days, it stands against a clear, blue sky, but one afternoon a couple of weeks ago, the sky was cloudy and the sun was poking through. It made an interesting Halloween effect, don't you think? Sunday Stills Challenge for November 1, 2009.

bare trees do have a certain atmosphere that always seems a little sinister. good shot with those dark clouds.
