Deserts and Beyond

Deserts and beyond...places in and around the southern California deserts and beyond. Photo taken at Canyon Lake, in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona, December 2011. A few minutes later, after the sun disappeared, these cliffs were their normal color. They were only golden for a short time and I'm glad we were able to view them in their glory.

Ranch Cafe~Window Views and Doors, Too 102110

This is the Ranch House Cafe, located near Olancha, CA, on Highway 375. Hubby and I stopped there for breakfast on our way to June Lake last weekend. It was decorated for Halloween and it was very relaxing! Unfortunately, it may not be around next year as CALTRANS is considering moving Highway 395 away from the cafe! So, if you drive up Highway 395 and want a great place to eat and friendly service, please stop here and enjoy it while you can! Window Views and Doors, Too for October 21, 2010.

My husband really loves this place. Me too, but, I haven't eaten there in years. It is a great stop on the way up or down the 395...sad it will be gone in the near future.

It's exactly the type of place we would pick! Very charming -- hope it survives "progress"

It's fun to see all the Halloween decor all over the States through the blogs! We see quite a bit of here in the Philippines too, part of the American colonial legacy.

Too bad it may be moving! Great places to eat are sometimes hard to find!
