Pioneertown fence~Friday Fences~031612

I was really surprised to find this beautiful fence last weekend when we were in Pioneertown.  Isn't it interesting?  It's so unusual to find one like this in the desert.  Pioneertown is off Highway 62, past Morongo valley, between it and 29 Palms and on the way to Joshua Tree National Park, in southern California.  There was a HUGE fire in this area about 6 years ago and some of the town burned, as did many, many acres of joshua trees outside of town.  We saw many, many joshua tree skeletons last weekend.  Friday Fences for March 16, 2012.  To visit Friday Fences, please go to this link:   http://lifeaccordingtojanandjer.blogspot.com/

Where is Pioneertown? I'd like to go see this fence for myself while I'm in SoCal!

I wonder what this design is called. I'm not sure I've ever seen one like it.

Your header shot almost took my breath away! I have been to the Superstition Mountains twice and somehow never managed to get to that lake! The fence is a lovely fence - I am sure there is a name for that type of fencing...looks like a lot of work though!

I like this kind of fence...we have very similar ones at the Gettysburg battle ground in Pa.

I love the pattern

It's almost a version of what we call split rail in this part of the U.S. Glad it escaped the fire and sorry you lost your very special joshua trees.

What an interesting fence to find in the desert. I think of ones like this being in places like Old Salem or Williamsburg. genie
