A view of palm trees and our sky today. It was so nice to have some clouds! We've had over a week of clear, blue skies, but now some monsoon moisture is moving into the Coachella Valley, bringing clouds with it. SkyWatch Friday for August 12, 2011. These at the Marriott are ornamental only. As you can see, they trim them regularly. However, down the valley, in Indio, Coachella, and Thermal, and places south, they do grow date palms. Have you ever eaten a date? They are yummy! I used to give them to Sunni, my horse (pitted...). I figure, if the Arabs (horses) survived on dates, he could, too! Sometimes I put a couple of dates in my morning smoothie.

Those palm trees seem to be happy to mingle with the clouds. Makes me want to see palm trees for real once again.
