Deserts and Beyond

Deserts and beyond...places in and around the southern California deserts and beyond. Photo taken at Canyon Lake, in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona, December 2011. A few minutes later, after the sun disappeared, these cliffs were their normal color. They were only golden for a short time and I'm glad we were able to view them in their glory.

Winery shadows~Sunday Stills Challenge 071010

While visiting wineries in northern California, I noticed that many areas of the wineries are covered with shadows. This picnic area not only had tree shadows, but huge patio umbrellas. These steps were in the shadows of some nearby trees. These areas were very inviting to us because here in the desert, our days have been up in the 100's!!! Sunday Stills Challenge for July 10, 2010.

Hi,
queste ombre sono veramente invitanti per un pic-nic in pieno relax domenicale !
Buona giornata :-)

Shade is always welcome in my book! There's something special about looking out to the sunny areas from the shade of an umbrella. I have been wanting to visit the northern California wineries lately. We're happy with Temecula Valley for a substitute, though.

All that's missing from those pictures is a couple of nice glasses of one of a kind chilled wine....lol

it makes the dessert seem cooler when there is shade. I don't think I would want to sit outside and drink my wine though.
