Hubby and I are currently up in the Sierras, trying out our new Nissan XTerra. It was snowing Wednesday afternoon when we arrived. Thursday morning was clear and the snow was blowing off the top of the Sierra peaks. Many, many cars were covered with snow and the road had been closed up by Crowley Lake. We headed out from Lone Pine in the morning and had breakfast in Bishop. We drove up the road to South Lake, up and behind Bishop. The road was clear up to the lake. Then, back through town and up Highway 395 as far as we could go! We turned around at Crowley Lake as the road was too icy and we don't have chains or 4 wheel drive. Instead, we drove the road up to Rovana, which is north of Bishop. We frequently take that road and are familiar with it. At one point, we stopped and looked at the peaks there. The sun was setting and just caught the top of one of the peaks. You can see the snow blowing off the top of one of them. SkyWatch Friday for December 31, 2010.
