Friday afternoon I drove up Highway 74 to take a few pictures of the wildflowers blooming on the first day of spring. The late afternoon shadows were lengthening and the day was winding down. This is a view looking down into Palm Desert from an overlook up on Highway 74. Scenic Sunday for March 22, 2009. Please notice that I got rid of all of the frilly "stuff" and went back to minima black. I think it shows the photos better. What do you think?

There's nothing like a nice scenic drive. Beautiful photo:)
Pretty scene. I'm sure you'll see lots of spring wildflowers emerging now. Yes, those long shadows do work wonders, don't they? I like the black background, too. It makes the photos pop out more. Good choice. Enjoy the day. We got a little bit of rain yesterday, but the "big" storm never really arrived...maybe today?
Looks like lovely weather you're having! A lovely clear view right across to the mountains and everything looks so clean and fresh!
Thanks for stopping by earlier and for your kind comments! That sounds like an interesting family history! Scotland's still full of wild people! I think the parthenon was built just to make the city look good, since Edinburgh's nickname was "the Athens of the North". It is unfinished because the builders ran out of money - they were very embarassed about it at the time! Still, even in its unfinished state it looks good, and everyone stands in front of it to get their picture taken :)
I know I keep saying it but my you live in a beautiful area! Again Great pictures!
Nice view & a good shot for Scenic Sunday!!!
Nice image. I enjoy a scenic drive; it's my panacea.
Nice photo. Black backgrounds do usually show photos better because the colors in the photo jump out more than they would on a white or colored background. That is of course just in general. Certain background colors match certain photos better and so forth.
Ah the awesome signs of spring. Looks like you have a very peaceful nice drive. Smiles B
I've not driven out to that area for quite a while and your lovely photo makes me want to take a drive on Hwy 74 soon ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
