Return to Whitewater Canyon

It was so unusual to return to Whitewater Canyon Saturday and see the trees completely bare!  We had stopped there in December and they still had gorgeous fall colors on them.  But, now they stand empty and silent.  Another feature of the canyon is that it has palm trees among the sycamores!  That's very usual as palms don't normally grow where it is that cold.  Must be a micro climate there?  It's also unusual to see palm trees in front of snow-covered mountains (see bottom photo)!  Anyway, the wind was so cold, swooping down off those mountains, that we didn't stay long as I didn't wish to get my flu/bronchitis AGAIN!  If you want to see my late December post of the canyon, with the leaves on the trees, here's the link:   http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5454491381670675786#editor/target=post;postID=4742718010295266202
