"Y" is for...ABC Wednesday 010511

"Yucca"! There are plenty of yucca plants at Joshua Tree National Park. These show the leftover blossoms from last spring. I can't wait to see them this spring, especially with all the rain we've had so far this winter! ABC Wednesday for January 5, 2011.

Cool pictures. I see these up here in Western MA and they look a bit out of place, but a lot of people seem to like putting them in their yards. I'm surprised they are able to survive the harsh winters! According to the scrabble dictionary, they can also be spelled YUCA and are also called CASSAVA or CASAVA.

We were just out there this fall and on the one day we could get out to the desert to troll for cacti, I was laid up.

Thanks for bringing some of what I missed to ABC.

I STILL have not yet been to Joshua Tree. I should go sometime soon. THanks for the pic.

It always amazes me that the Yucca produces such a flower.
