We've had beautiful, clear blue skies here in southern California the last several days. On Sunday, I drove up to work my horses and spotted these cottonwood trees along one road. We've had beautiful, clear blue skies here in southern California the last several days. On Sunday, I drove up to work my horses and spotted these cottonwood trees along one road. Cottonwoods, full or bare, are the most nostalgia-bearing trees in the world for me. The power station along the aqueduct south of Lone Pine is called Cottonwood, and I spent several happy childhood summers there while my grandfather managed the plant. Nowadays, whenever I catch that aspeny smell, I'm transported. Thanks for reminding me!
