Befunky photo editing website

I'm pulling was pulling out my hair due to the fact that Picnik is going away in 16 days.  I don't have Photoshop, don't know how to use it, don't have time to learn how to use it...Then one day, I found a blog which listed various online photo editing websites and I've tried a couple of them.  I actually like" befunky" the best.  It's EASY to use and it is a lot like the old Picnik...you just pick and save the effect that you like.  I'm experimenting with several this morning to give you an idea of some of the effects that they have.  Here they are.  I chose this photo from our afternoon up in the Morongo Preserve.  So, after the original photo (on top), the next one is "Grunge".  I kind of like this effect.  The second one down from the original is called "Instant"...The third one is "Old Photo".  I like this one!  And, the last one for today is "Sunburst".  It's quite loud, don't you think?  I'm not sure I like it.  In fact, I'm really not sure I like any of them.  I guess I'm a purist...I just like my photos SOOC (straight out of the camera)...What about you?  What program(s) do you use to edit your photos?  If you would like to visit befunky, here is the link to their website:   http://www.befunky.com/

i downloaded picasa (free) and have been trying it out. it has a couple of cool one-button effects, too, but also allows some more subtle changes. still getting used to it, though.

Good morning, Cheryl.
Cute experiments. I know picnik is going bye byes, but isn't Picasa still hanging around. I know that picnik is a picasa add on but, I may be wrong, but I thought it was just that part of Picasa that was going? The original picasa is staying? yes/no? Maybe it'll be incorporated into Google+?

You are awesome Cheryl. Thanks for sharing. I'm just now experimenting with effects. I was a little slow getting started but I appreciate you showing us the different takes of the same pic.

I actually like the last one best. Like you I'm more of a purist. Used to play more many years ago.

I've been using Windows Photo Gallery for years. Then, new software came with the new camera, ViewNX2 and I'm loving it for just those little tweaks that are sometimes needed. Also use Picasa for some things.

I too have been feeling betrayed by the demise of Picnik. I had been using it for years to resize, crop, straighten, and then branched out into some of the special effects and even cloning. When I read the announcement that it would be gone as of April 19, I felt gut-kicked!

Then in reading here and there on their board or whatever you call it, I came across the mention of ipiccy.com/. I immediately went there to try whatever I found available and intriguing. Although I cannot go there directly from Flickr, I have found it pretty easy to get the photos that I'm interested in from a folder on my desktop or from iPhoto by putting it onto my desktop, then getting it for ipiccy.com/. Lots of what I used to do at Picnik is there, the same things in the basic edits, and the special effects, while not giving the exact results, are still neat. You can see on my posts on March 30 and March 31 how ipiccy.com/ impacted my images. Plus, on March 30, I have included one which I altered at PicMonkey. You see, I got a comment on my February 23 post from a woman who says she used to be with Picnik and that she and some other former Picnikers have started PicMonkey. It's only been around since early February and is not fully developed yet, it seems. I plan to try them, too, alternating with ipiccy.com/. Sometimes I love my images SOOC, sometimes I don't. Having an easy to use method of altering them is such a gift.

Call me weird, but I like the processing/editing as much as photography! I've been working for about a year now teaching myself Photoshop, and I always look forward to getting on my computer after a good photo shoot to edit my photos!
