Desert blooms~Nature Notes~041312

I forgot that I had some photos on my Nikon, so I uploaded them this morning and found this one of a brittle bush when they were in full bloom.  Unfortunately, their prime blooming time has come and gone and now the bushes are loving their brilliant colors.  But, as these shrubs lose their blooms, the palo verdes are now in full bloom, once again dotting our desert landscape with yellows.  Nature Notes for April 13, 2012. Desert blooms~Our World Tuesday~030712

I wandered around with my camera yesterday, looking at all the plants that are in bloom right now.  There was no shortage of colorful blooms!  While we didn't get much rain, the desert plants are doing their yearly show and I'm glad I was able to get out and see them.  Aren't they colorful?  Even the cacti have blossoms.  Our World Tuesday for March 7, 2012.   To visit OWT, please go to:   http://ourworldtuesdaymeme.blogspot.com/

The desert in bloom~That's My World~051011

The lower desert is in full bloom now and everybody's allergies are at their peak. I had two cortisone shots two years ago after my fall off a friend's horse, so my allergies aren't in full gear! However, our son is going to an allergist today because he is absolutely miserable. Here are some of the culprits. While they are beautiful, they do cause many desert dwellers to suffer. That's My World for Tuesday, May 10, 2011. I believe the orange flower is a desert mallow. Then, there's a pink desert willow, followed by a purple jacaranda tree, and finally, a palo verde, with its bright yellow blossoms.
