Deserts and beyond...places in and around the southern California deserts and beyond. Photo taken at Canyon Lake, in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona, December 2011. A few minutes later, after the sun disappeared, these cliffs were their normal color. They were only golden for a short time and I'm glad we were able to view them in their glory.

monsoon morning clouds~SkyWatch Friday 090409
Now that it's September, we are finally getting our typical August monsoon weather. Go figure! I snapped this photo one morning on my way to school. SkyWatch Friday for September 4, 2009.
This was actually the foreshadowing of a Pacific tropical storm. When the clouds move in from the south, we KNOW we are in trouble! Our tropical storms always move up from the Gulf of California. This was the remnants of hurricane Jimena. Our local mountains got rain, but we on the desert floor did not. There are still clouds this weekend. I'm taking my cameras with me all weekend, so I should have some great photos to post in the next week! Thanks, all, for stopping by and go out and have a great weekend. "May your shadow fall in pleasant places!"
